Be Love Week - May 17th-May 23rd

Be Love Week May 17 – 23rd 2026: For one week, there will be opportunities for the congregation to get involved in the community. Free Tee-shirts will be available in the Commons beginning Sunday, May 3rd to wear when volunteering. Here are ways you can get involved.

• Donate socks for the homeless at the Lamb Center and/or Guatemala Mission trip items (see list above). Please bring items by May17th.

• Saturday, May 16 – The Youth Group will be getting a jump on Be Love week by cleaning up the Courtyard at Weyanoke Elementary School. POC: Katie Fritchman kfritchman@stmatthewsumc.org.

• Sunday, May 17 Fairfax County Parks Authority. Broyhill Park, Falls Church, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. POC: Deb Ansman at debbins2001@aol.com.

•Sunday, May 17th. Card Making during children’s Sunday School time and/or after Modern Worship Service in the Social Hall. POC: Ruth Ann Harrold at ruth.ann.harrold@cox.net.

•Monday, May 18th- Walk In Ministry Evening Food Distribution – Sign-up at https://bit.ly/4u2cBnG. We will also be serving hotdogs to the guests from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (We will also be serving hotdogs Monday May 11th). POC: Deb Ansman at debbins2001@aol.com.

•Tuesday, May 19th- We will be making 75 Summer Hygiene Kits for the Homeless in Fairfax County from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Commons. All supplies are provided. POC Deb Ansman at debbins2001@aol.com.

•Wednesday, May 20th- There will be another Card Making activity from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Commons. POC Ruth Ann Harold ruth.ann.harrold@cox.net.

•Friday, May 22nd - We will be serving the homeless ice cream during FACETS nightly Hot Meals distribution at the Home Depot at Fairfax Circle beginning at 6:00 p.m. We will then follow the FACETS Hot Meals van to Fairfax Presbyterian Church

•Saturday, May 23rd -We will have a FREE Community Shredding event from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Protecting your personal information has become more important than ever. Issues of identity theft, fraud, and abuse of personal information are rampant in today's world of both digital and paper-based information exchange. One of the safest ways of disposing of your personal information is by bringing to our FREE shredding event. We will be accepting monetary donations for the Ken Jackson Food Bank here at St. Matthew’s. POC: Deb Ansman at debbins2001@aol.com.
