The AV Lead is St. Matthew’s UMC lead audio engineer and the shepherd of our volunteer tech team. This part-time role makes sure every element of worship can be seen, heard and experienced without distraction, and builds a volunteer ministry that can grow with our Worship department.
The primary focus of this role is audio for worship. Over time, presentation will be run by trained volunteers, and livestream may move to a second person (expected in one to two years).
Working alongside our Director of Family Ministries, you'll help children from preschool through 5th grade discover that they are known, loved, and belong.
• Make Sunday the best part of their week. Lead engaging Children's Time sessions at the alter during worship services and lead enriching Sunday School sessions for children grade 5 and below.
• Bring God's story to life. Teach biblically grounded, age-appropriate curriculum through crafts, games, and real conversation.
• Build a team of caring volunteers. Recruit, train, and encourage volunteers so every child is surrounded by people who show up for them and exemplify God’s love.
• Keep every child safe. Uphold our Child Protection Policy and confirm volunteer background checks with the Director of Family Ministries. Safety is one of the ways we show love.
• Be a trusted partner to families. Keep parents, teachers, and volunteers connected, and answer their questions with warmth and care.
• Help shape what's next. Bring ideas that grow our vision for children's faith formation and worship.
• Help coordinate and run our signature events. You'll help create the moments our families and community members talk about all year including the Fall Festival, Cookies, crafts and photos with Santa and St. Nicholas and the Easter Extravaganza.
