Every Tuesday and Thursday, 19:00 - 21:00 (7:00-9:00 pm)

Location: Basement Door 3 on left side of church

Online Registration: August 18 - September 5, 2025

Student Testing begins September 4

4 LEVELS OF ENGLISH CLASSES: BEGINNER-ADVANCED. a signup link fOr a test appointment is provideD after you submit registration online.

Fall term covers the first half of the course 

Winter term covers second half of the course.

REGISTRATION-You must complete all 3 parts:

1. REGISTER ONLINE HERE. CHOOSE YOUR PREFERRED LANGUAGE:

2. SIGN-UP FOR STUDENT TESTING APPOINTMENT and come to the church on your day and time

3. PAY THE FEE ONLINE OR BRING FEE TO test APPOINTMENT. 

Fee includes testing and a student book.

NEW STUDENTS: $40  AND RETURNING STUDENTS IN NEW LEVEL: $40.

RETURNING STUDENTS IN SAME LEVEL WITH BOOK: $20.

All are WELCOME here at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church. This outreach ministry of the church helps those in our community who want to improve their English language skills by offering ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes in person. Our classes use an ESOL curriculum developed by Oxford University Press, the Step Forward, 2nd Edition series. The fee we charge for regular classes covers a student book for each person and expenses to run the program. Occasionally, we are able to offer a free conversation class in addition to the regular 10 week class terms held in the fall and winter. All teachers and staff are volunteers in this ministry. St. Matthew’s UMC has provided an ESL/ESOL program to the public for more than 20 years. We are a member of English as a Second Language and Immigrant Ministries (ESLIM) of Northern Virginia.
