30 Hour Famine

The 30 Hour Famine raises money and awareness for those suffering from hunger locally and around the world. St. Matthew's will be participating in this event Friday, January 24-Saturday, January 25. Students participating in the 30 Hour Famine will start their fast after lunch on Friday. The lock-in portion of the event will start at 7 PM at the church, with events planned throughout the evening and service planned for Saturday during the day. We will break the fast in the evening on Saturday. For those participating in this event, please put your own health and well-being first. If you have a medical condition that prevents you from fasting, you can still participate--bring food and we will work it out! If you have a sports practice Friday after school, please plan to eat before arriving at the church that evening. The 30 Hour Famine strives to bring awareness to hunger, without putting anyone in any sort of dangerous situation. If you want to participate, but have questions, please contact Kara Stuebing at kstuebing@stmatthewsumc.org

To raise money for this event, there will be a pancake breakfast the Sunday before the event--please indicate if you are able to help with the pancake breakfast on Sunday, January 19. During the breakfast we will be sharing information with the congregation about the 30 Hour Famine. To find out more about the famine, go to www.30hourfamine.org
